The Story Of The Storr

Many years ago it was decided that we would to put our 25 years experience of making award winning ale into distilling gin.

We had our handmade copper still, which we chose to name Flora, specially built for us. For those of you who don’t know the legend, Flora MacDonald helped the Bonnie Prince Charlie escape across the water to Skye after a defeat at the Battle of Culloden. There has been a very famous song written about this particular journey,

Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lad that's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye

After 3 years of carefully testing different ingredients the The Storr was born. The water we use flows through the nearby Fairy Glen and, where possible, our botanicals are sourced locally here on the island. Lovingly infused with local juniper and rose hip every drop is handmade and and carefully crafted to let you sample the true essence of Skye.

Delicious with a dash of your favourite tonic and a twist or orange feel or a sprig of fresh thyme.

Every drop of Skye Gin is distilled and bottled right here in our brewery next to Uig pier.
