The 12 Beers Of Christmas

Did you know that there are 12 different varieties of Skye Ale?

We put the question to our chief brewer that if he was asked to suggest a drinking order to someone that hasn’t tried them all yet, what would he say? The list below is the order that he suggested to follow in order to fully enjoy the Skye Ale experience.

Head over to our online shop now and create your own mixed case and give them all a go over the Christmas period this year (FREE UK delivery)

Skye Craft Lager
 - This hand-crafted lager is brewed using; lager, maris otter, crystal and amber malts. These work in harmony with Saaz and a small amount of Centennial hops which gives a refreshing, flavourful and thirst quenching lager.

Skye Gold -  The taste of grain has always been a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. The result is an ale with the flavour of gentle hops, a creamy head and just the right amount of bitterness

Skye Blonde - Made mainly with lager malt but with some pale ale, amber and caramalt too. Lightly hopped with a soft, lingering finish. Blonde as the name suggests is a light craft beer with a mix of Lager malt, Pale Ale, Amber & Caramalt all brought together then lightly hopped to give a refreshing easy to drink Craft beer.

Skyelight - This light and refreshing ale is a real thirst quencher. Plenty of fruit and hops lead to a lingering light hoppy finish.

Yer Ben - YER BEN is the signature ale of Scotland’s Michelin star chef Tom Kitchin, who took the passion of the Isle of Skye Brewery and created this exceptionally smooth ale.

Skye IPA - A clean golden bitter ale with an underlying biscuit flavour and zesty, zingy, citric aroma and aftertaste. Skye Brewery’s head brewster has come up with an imaginative blend of maris otter and crystal malts, dark caramalt and torrified wheat, all working in harmony with Sorachi Ace hops, one of the rarest. A clean golden bitter ale with an underlying biscuit flavour and zesty zingy citric aroma and aftertaste

Young Pretender - Winner of ‘Champion Bitter of Scotland 2016’. Shimmering gold and refreshingly full-flavoured, Young Pretender is an ale to challenge received wisdom. Much like the Skye Brewery itself – very much an upstart in an industry sometimes reluctant to embrace the new.

Skye Red - Malted barley is a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We use three different varieties to create the deep colour and smooth nuttiness; each grain is milled right here in our brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness. Then we balance this rich brew with just the right amount of Challenger and Fuggle hops.

Skye Blaven - The ale started out in 1996 as a winter-only brew. However, the rich malty character and well-balanced hop aroma proved so popular, we decided to make it available all year round. Creamy, full-bodied and smooth, Blaven is also somewhat deceptive – the strongest of our regular ales.

Skye Black - The colour comes from dark roasted barley, balanced with just the right amount of sweet, rolled oatmeal. We mill both right here in the brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness. The true taste of malt shines through, balanced by the sweetness of pure Scottish heather honey.

Tarasgeir - Tarasgeir is brewed using peat-smoked malt from the Ardmore Distillery, imparting a delicate smoky aroma and wonderful burnt peat flavour to this unique craft beer, which lingers well into the aftertaste.

Cuillin Beast - Made with live yeast, this is our strongest ale. But it’s also beguilingly sweet, fruity and smooth. Our promise: you’ll live to tell of your encounter with the beast.
