Our Ale with a Michelin Star

We’re really pleased to introduce a unique new product to the craft beer market: the first premium ale created in partnership between a quality craft brewer (that’s us) and a Michelin star chef – Tom Kitchin.

‘Yer Ben’ has been a close collaboration between Tom and our brewing team, Pam MacRuary and Norrie MacLeod. Both our brewers are former chefs and pioneered by Tom they have created a unique product which offers a perfect accompaniment to any meal – try it with anything from oysters to fish & chips or pork terrine.

This brew is named after Tom’s grandfather – Ben Robinson – a true connoisseur who could often be found around the Highlands and Islands deep in conversation or reflecting on life with a fine ale in hand. We’d like to think ‘Yer Ben’ would have been his first choice.

You’ll have seen the trend for quality beer and food matching, ‘Yer Ben’ is an exceptionally smooth, refreshing and well-structured golden creamy beer, crafted to compliment your favourite dish.

Best served cold, ‘Yer Ben’ has a hint of citrus and slight sweetness, the long finish is bitter and hoppy – cutting through the richness of food. The light, refreshing recipe suits all palettes and we hope you enjoy ‘Yer Ben’ as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

Tom’s passion for the best of Scottish produce and renowned ‘From Nature to Plate’ philosophy marries with our love of Scotland’s natural larder. All our ales use the best natural ingredients and we even mill our own grain to ensure we always deliver the best brew possible.

Try some this weekend at the Scran & Scallie (Stockbridge, Edinburgh), or order a case online and try it at home.
